Get Into The Holiday Spirit At The Southern Christmas Show
Today marks 36 days until Christmas!!! Wow it’s getting closer and closer. And I know some people like to wait till we at least eat the Thanksgiving Turkey before decorating, but why… Thanksgiving is late this year which means there’s really less time between the Holidays. Regardless if you’re waiting to decorate or you’re planning to decorate ASAP you have to check out The Southern Christmas Show at the Park Expo and Conference Center.
It is seriously a one stop shop for holiday decorations, yummy treats, gifts, and even the big guy Sanata is there! I checked out the show after work Friday thinking that it wouldn’t be busy at 4pm on a Friday. But I was wrong. People come from hours and hours away with their cars packed with friends to check out the show. And I can’t blame them. As someone who loves Christmas I would drive a good distance too. If you didn’t make it to the show this weekend, don’t worry. The show goes through Sunday! I may even have to make a second trip to get more ornaments and Helmut’s famous strudel.
If you’ve never been to the show I have some tips for first timers. As we were walking in I saw most people bringing rolling suitcases, huge, sturdy shopping bags, and carts on wheels. I didn’t get why they brought these until I was bogged down with all of my holiday purchases. Seriously, if you have something with wheels that can hold a lot, bring it! Also wear layers. If you get hot make sure you have something yoiu can take off to keep yourself at the right temperature. And my last tip, and an obvious one-wear comfortable shoes. From the road the Park Expo and conference Center doesn’t look all that big. But it really is. There’s a lot to see and you’ll be doing a lot of walking.
I went to the Christmas show with a few goals in mind. Firstly, I wanted to get some special ornaments for myself and gifts for friends. I succeeded! I found some really great ornaments that you wouldn’t find at just any store. I also found many booth have hand painted, customizable ornaments. These are perfect for friends that just got married, bought their first house, or had a baby.
Here are some of the goodies I found.
I also bought some gifts for family and friends. And of course, I couldn’t leave the show without some of Helmut’s Famous Strudel. I also bought some spicy homemade salsa, broccoli soup mix, and a few dip mixes. Yummy.
I am all ready for the holidays. I just need to put my tree up like tonight. After all Christmas is only 36 days away!
Check out the Southern Christmas Show going on thru Sunday at The Park Expo And Conference Center!
