Top Pop/Rock Songs Of 2013 So Far

We’re officially half way through 2013 (can you believe it?) and with six months of music under our belt, it’s no surprise some epic and amazing songs have made their way to our ears from our favorite artists.  This year we’ve seen the return of Justin Timberlake, the rise of Imagine Dragons, the continued success of Selena Gomez and fun. and the awesome collaboration between country and rap.

Of course, with six months to go we’re sure plenty more will be released but for now…. here are the top pop songs of 2013 so far.

Suit & Tie- Justin Timberlake featuring Jay Z

This kicking song is off of Justin’s newest album, since “FutureSex/LoveSounds,” called, “The 20/20 Experience.”

Just Give Me a Reason- Pink featuring Nate Ruess

While writing this song, Pink realized that she needed another singer seeing how this song is basically a conversation between two people. She asked the lead singer of Fun, Nate Ruess, to help her out. The song is about the desire to hold onto a failing relationship.

Mirrors- Justin Timberlake

This song started out at the US BillBoard Hot 100 and later peaked at number 3. It hit number one in the United Kingdom. This song is a couple and one realizing that their spouse is the other half to them, and without them they would be nothing.

Heart Attack- Demi Lovato

For the year 2013, this song is holds the third highest opening-week sales figures. The “Heart Attack” that is described in the song is a metaphor to lovesickness.

When I Was Your Man- Bruno Mars

The song is a self explained by a man who is heartbroken because the girl of his dreams is no longer his. And her new man is able to give her everything she deceivers, while he wasn’t able too. Bruno Mars preformed the song on “The Voice” which helped the song grow in popularity.

Come & Get It- Selena Gomez

While this song has received many great reviews, the image that she portrays has offended some in the Hindus community by the outfit she wore while performing this song. She wore a bindis that has religious significant to their culture. To this date she has not apologized for wearing it during her performance.

Stay- Rihanna featuring Mikky Ekko

When this song was relished, it hit number three on the billboards which makes it her 24th song to be on the top ten thus far.

One Way or Another- One Direction

This song was actually recorded to raise money for Comic Relief, an effort where people do funny thing to raise money for Red Nose Day.  The monies raised help aid homeless UK citizens or people dealing with domestic abuse as well as provide life saving devices and water for Africa.

Radioactive- Imagine Dragons

For 12 weeks and counting, this song has topped the Alternative billboard song charts.

Started From the Bottom- Drake

This song describes Drake’s life and his journey to where he is now. The song is full of verses that talk about how people that don’t have enough information about him will simply make up this life. Those rumors are not true at all.

Pour It Up- Rihanna

This song talks about how a strip club and how it can be freeing to go. This song also hints at how rich she is and how she doesn’t need any friends to have fun.

Cruise- Florida Georgia Line featuring Nelly

This song originally sang by Florida Georgia Line was just remixed with Nelly to give the country song a more pop feel to it. The results have been amazing and the song continues to grow in popularity.

Feel This Moment- Pitbull featuring Christina Aguilera

Pitbull says that working with Christina is an honor and a gift. He has the highest respects for her, and the chance to sing with her is like a dream come true.

Love Me- Lil Wayne featuring Drake & Future

This song is Lil Wayne’s 18th top ten hit on the billboard to date.

Get Lucky- Daft Punk featuring Pharrell Williams

The song is about finding more in a relationship than just sexual chemistry. The song has hit the top ten song charts in over 28 countries.

My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up)- Fall Out Boy

This is the bands fifth album they have released, and is their first album they have made in three years. The song has been remixed by rapper 2 Chainz.

22- Taylor Swift

Taylor says that being 22 inspired her to write this song. She loves being 22, and to date is turning out to be her favorite age. The wonders of being 22 is where she pulled the songs meanings from.

The Other Side- Jason Derulo

Jason has stated that he was inspired to write this song for his girlfriend Jordin Sparks.  The couple has been together for about a year now.

Demons- Imagine Dragons

For the band this is one of their darker songs they have cut. The song still has an indie rock feel that talks about a man flaws and how is warning his partner about them.

Here’s To Never Growing Up- Avril Lavigne

This is her fifth studio album that she has come out with. According to the Huffington Post, this is the first song of the summer.
