(CBS Radio) — I’ve heard it a thousand times before — A new mom talking about how much bigger her breasts are after having her baby. But, what many new mom’s might not be aware of, is that their breasts are not the only thing that gets bigger.
Do Breasts Really Get Bigger During And After Pregnancy?
Well yes, and no.
During pregnancy, the female body goes through hormonal changes which make her breasts larger. In fact, it’s common for a woman’s breast size to increase by one or two cup sizes.
However, after pregnancy and in the absence of breast feeding, a woman’s breast size decreases significantly.
A woman’s breasts may stay bigger for quite some time after pregnancy, especially if she is still carrying around some pregnancy weight. However, when the remaining baby weight finally comes off, the bigger breasts become a thing of the past.
But, there’s one part of the body that may never return to its original size after pregnancy. While many women welcome bigger breasts, they may not welcome bigger feet.
That’s right, unfortunately their breasts are not the only thing that get bigger during pregnancy.
According to a recent study conducted by the American Journal of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, 60 to 70 percent of pregnant women in their study group, had longer feet and shorter arches after childbirth.
And unlike the temporary hormonal changes that increase a woman’s breast size, the changes to their feet appear to be permanent.
