This could be the worst news of the year maybe the decade! Friday, Irving, Texas-based Hostess announced they were going out of business after filing a motion with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. The company said after a company wide workers strike that they couldn’t afford to stay in business.
The workers were given a deadline of Thursday this week or the company had to fold. This means no more Twinkies, Dingdongs, and Ho Ho’s for us to gorge on! I don’t know how we are going to make it through this tragic event!
Hostess CEO Gregory F. Rayburn released a statement saying, “We deeply regret the necessity of today’s decision, but we do not have the financial resources to weather an extended nationwide strike.” The company will have to lay-off it’s 18,500 person workforce and sell off it’s assets. I heard Honey Boo Boo’s Mom June is the highest bidder so far!
