Cecil Newton, father to the Carolina Panthers phenom quarterback Cam Newton, talked candidly with Drex and Maney about his son’s charity called The Cam Newton Foundation and its impact it’ll have on our community. Cecil along with Cam and his family are eager to set up programs with Charlotte’s youth to help out in every facet of their life for the many years to come.

The Foundation strives to emphasize the importance of making education a priority on a daily basis by addressing the barriers that impede the learning process. The Cam Newton Foundation also recognizes physical fitness and health as a vital element of comprehensive youth development and its relationship to leading a well-rounded and fulfilling life. Cecil and his son Cam want to stress that “Every 1 Matters” in their focus of helping out the cities of Charlotte and Atlanta, the Newton’s hometown city.

Cecil Newton discussed Cam’s success on the collegiate level and his rookie year in the NFL as well as carrying a heavy burden with their opening 1-4 season in the 2012-13 season. But, Cecil knows that his son will learn from his mistakes and bounce back with the team to play harder and win some games this year and for years to come in Charlotte.
