Mat Kearney is joining Train tomorrow night at the Time Warner Cable Uptown Amphitheater. The Nashville based singer and songwriter grew up in Oregon and attended California State University. Kearney picked up a guitar for the first time during his junior year of college and began to play and write. After playing in local coffee shops, he moved to Nashville with friend and producer, Robert Martin. Mat Kearney came onto the music scene with the success of his second album, Nothing Left to Lose. He toured with big time gigs like Train, Sheryl Crow and John Mayer while promoting the album.
His third album, City of Black & White was released in 2009 under Columbia Records. The first single, ‘Closer to Love’ was successful on both Christian and secular radio stations. The record debuted at number 13 on the Billboard 200.
Kearney’s music has been featured on tons of television shows including Grey’s Anatomy, The Vampire Diaries and One Tree Hill. His latest album, Young Love, was released in 2011 with the first single ‘Hey Mama.’ Fun fact about Mat with one t, his legal name is Mathew because of a nurse’s mistake on his birth certificate. Mat have since embraced the unique spelling. Joining forced with Train tomorrow night, he should give Charlotte quite a show!
