After playing a show alongside Carly Rae Jepsen and Boys Like Girls, Austin Mahone stopped by B96/Chicago and talked about a fan who sent something fluffy and soft flying at his head.

“This girl threw a teddy bear at me…and it was weird because I wasn’t ready for it, but somehow I caught it,” Mahone said.

It’s a good thing he’s got ninja-like reflexes, because this rising star is likely to get a lot of strange things thrown at him by fans. And it’s not anywhere near Austin’s first brush with Mahonie fanatics.

Sometimes they can be a bit overwhelming.

“Last year when I was [in Chicago], I got mobbed at the Bean,” Austin said. “I was like, ‘Yo, what’s up guys? Meet & greet one hour.’ I Tweeted that, and then I went there, and like a 1,000 girls were there. It was just me and my mom…I’m starting to get used it it…I like it though, it’s fun.”

Since everyone has been comparing Austin to Justin Bieber, we asked who he wants to emulate. According to him, Austin Mahone hopes to be categorized with “no one,” but during his free time, he listens to a lot of Drake. Whether or not we can expect some Drake-like raps from Austin in the future remains to be seen.
