Madonna is known for stirring up controversy but sometimes there is a fine line between edgy and inconsiderate. During her concert in Scotland on Saturday, Madonna ignored police warnings and brought pistols and machine guns on stage for her act. Her dancers were even dressed in all black, tactile outfits with face masks, similar to the way the shooter was dressed in Colorado’s movie massacre just 2 days before.
Madonna posted some photos on her website this weekend of the stage show at her MDNA Tour, which some are calling “in bad taste”. Mother’s Against Guns told the Saturday Morning Harold, the 53-year-old singer “should know better.” “Madonna would rather cancel her show than censor her art,” a member of her tour staff told HuffPost’s Rob Shuter. “Her entire career, she has fought against people telling her what she can and cannot do. She’s not about to start listening to them now.”
At one point Madonna even pointed the guns at her audience which was probably the most disturbing in light of the recent events. I agree that we can’t live our lives in fear and censor art and expression all because of one crazy person, but I think there is a line of decency that we should have for family members of victims and people who were involved or effected by the event. Granted she was in a whole different country but this was world news and the worst shooting in the history of her home country. I applaud the tv shows and artists that took a moment to remember the tragedy and victims.
