For many musicians, the idea of filming a video at an exotic location like Acapulco is enticing. But for Flo Rida on the music video shoot of “Whistle,” it was dangerous. In an interview with B96/Chicago Flo Rida revealed just what happened on location.

“We shot the video in Acapulco, Mexico. It was very hot out there. I’ve been out there before, but this time was just so hot,” he said. “Everyone seemed like they came out, the whole town supported me. We shot in the club environment . . . the beaches was crazy. I enjoyed it.”

While he admits he had a good time, Flo Rida went on to explain just why he didn’t’ near the cliff’s edge.

“This big guff of wind came through because we had the helicopter circling around me,” he recalled. “Luckily I had prepared myself and I just decided I wasn’t going to go close to the edge, because there was so much wind. But yeah, it was very dangerous. And I did it for the fans!”

Flo Rida’s upcoming album Wild Ones will be released July 3. He has collaborated with a long list of artists for the LP and said it was named after his single with Sia.

“After really just looking over my album, I just felt like every record was just a wild number one record,” he said. “So far we’ve been fortunate to have number one records around the world, and I’m just happy. On this album I’ve got Lil Wayne, I’ve got Jennifer Lopez, LMFAO, the late great Miss Etta James with ‘Good Feeling,’ Sia with ‘Wild Ones,’ and I’m just so happy about it, all the work I’ve put into it for the past six months has definitely shown.”

As far as when he knows whether he has a hit, Flo Rida said sometimes it’s just a feeling.

“When you walk into the studio and you just fall to your knees and [it's like] ‘Thank you Jesus!’ I love the whole process,” he said.
